Spice Market Announces “Artful Thursdays” and “Après Art” Packages

Spice Market, located inside the W Atlanta-Midtown, is rolling out two new promotions with the High Museum of Art in Midtown beginning the week of April 16 in order to encourage guests to support the arts and to offer a convenient and free parking option for museum-goers.

The restaurant’s Artful Thursdays will take place every Thursday evening beginning at 5 p.m. and includes the following:

·         Complimentary valet at the W Atlanta-Midtown (guests most present their High Museum ticket and their Spice Market receipt upon leaving to receive valet services free of charge)

·         Half-priced tickets to the High Museum of Art, which can be purchased at the Museum. The Museum is open until 8 p.m. on Thursdays.

Ga. Shakespeare announces 2012 season

ATLANTA -- After being brought back to life, thanks to generous donations from its army of fans, Georgia Shakespeare is pleased and proud to welcome the Bard back to Atlanta this summer.

The program's 27th season will begin in May with a new event called Shakespeare in the Park, which replaces Shake at the Lake. The first production, The Tempest, will run May 9-13 at the Legacy Fountain in Piedmont Park. All shows begin at 7:30 p.m., but audience members are more than welcome to arrive early and bring picnic dinners.

70th anniversary of Casablanca comes to local movie theatres

70th anniversary of Casablanca comes to local movie theatres

 

A cinematic treasure returns to movie theaters this month with the Turner Classic Movies Presents Casablanca 70th Anniversary Event on Wednesday, March 21 at 7:00 pm local time and special matinees in select theaters. Audiences in more than 450 movie theaters nationwide will be able to experience the time-honored classic in a stunning digital presentation by NCM Fathom Events, Turner Classic Movies (TCM) and Warner Home Video.  The event will be introduced by TCM host Robert Osborne who will discuss Casablanca’s enduring legacy and reveal some of its fascinating behind-the-scenes stories.

The Atlanta Opera’s 24-Hour Opera Project Showcase! Selected composers, lyricists, stage directors and opera singers -- randomly put into teams – have 24 hours to compose, stage and rehearse a 10-minute opera. Performances will be judged by a panel of judges and by the audience, who can also tune in via live webcast on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.

The Georgia Boy Choir Sings In The Holiday Season

This weekend, the internationally renowned Georgia Boy Choir will kick off the holiday season with the very popular Christmas with the Georgia Boy Choir production on December 16 and 17 in the beautiful sanctuary of Peachtree Road United Methodist Church where they are currently serving as the Ensemble-In-Residence.

This fantastic concert will feature not only the seasoned Concert Choir, but all five choirs of the Georgia Boy Choir including the Apprentice Choir comprised of boys ages 4 through 7, along with a full orchestra performing all of your favorite carols and songs to kick off the holiday season. Quickly becoming a city tradition, the evening includes a fun Christmas party for kids courtesy of Elegant Event Sitters, Atlanta’s largest performance of the “Twelve Days of Christmas” with the audience invited to join in the fun and singing, and lots of homemade Christmas treats.
