Woman arrested for falsely reporting rape

BROOKHAVEN, Ga. -- A Brookhaven woman has been charged with making false statements after wrongfully accusing a man of raping her.

Anamirna Cabello-Loeza, 31, turned herself in to Brookhaven Police on July 1. She was booked in the DeKalb County Jail.

Investigators said Cabello-Loeza claimed Roberto Gaona-Pina raped her in April near a Buford Highway MARTA bus stop. Police later identified Gaona-Pina as a person of interest in two more rapes -- one in Norcross and the other in Roswell. He was arrested in Alabama in May.

DNA evidence eventually cleared Gaona-Pina as a suspect in the Norcross and Roswell assaults. Brookhaven Police dropped the rape charge against him after Cabello-Loeza gave conflicting stories about the supposed attack.
