Brookhaven's Ashford Park filled with community toys
News

BROOKHAVEN, Ga. -- Reese Obser likes to climb on the playground equipment at Ashford Park.

But she really enjoys playing with the park's toys -- toys that other children have left behind.

Ashford Park is filled with playsets, trucks and tricycles that have become community property. And the local kids love it.

Families drop off toys all the time, so neighbors try to control what's in the park by organizing a community cleanup once a quarter. They take away toys that are broken and pose a potential hazard for children.

The toys that make the cut do more than entertain. There are some real life lessons -- lessons that used toys can be just as good as shiny new ones.

It's become a kind of recycling project that keeps Brookhaven kids coming back for more.
