Woodfire Grill Introduces New Monthly Wine Tastings On April 19

Beginning this month, Woodfire Grill is offering wine tastings carefully chosen by the restaurant’s wine director, Nicolas Quinones, and sommelier, Catherine Hatch. The tastings will be available to guests dining at the restaurant from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. every third Thursday from April through August. The wine tastings will be concurrent with regular seated dinner service but will not be considered pairings, so guests may dine as they please. The restaurant will pour eight wines focused on a specific theme or region. At each tasting, either Quinones or Hatch will be present. The cost is $15 per person with tastings limited to 30 guests each month.

On Thursday, April 19, champagne and sparkling wines will be featured. With pours of Cava to tête de cuvee champagnes like Dom Pérignon, sparklers are thought to complement food better than any other wine.

The American pinot noir will be served on Thursday, May 17. Over the last 40 years, pinot noir production in the United States has developed both in quality and quantity. Guests will sample pinot noirs from Willamette Valley, Oregon and Santa Barbara, California.

Keeping with the pinot noir theme, the tasting on Thursday, June 21 will be Burgundy pinot noir. Pinot noir originated in France’s Burgundy region and remains the standard to which all other pinot noir is compared. Pours will range from the rich depths of Grand Crus to the lighter and quaffable Bourgogne Rouge.

During one of the hottest months of the year, guests will enjoy summer whites from the Loire Valley on Thursday, July 19. Vouvray, Muscadet and Sancerre are all refreshing wines from the region that will be offered.

The wine tasting series will conclude on Thursday, August 16 with Rieslings from Germany.  Guests will enjoy a tasting through the spectrum, beginning with dry Rieslings, moving on to fruity wines and finishing with some sweet pucker.

Reservations are required, and guests can call 404-347-9055 to reserve. Since the wine tasting will not be seated in any particular area, it is important that guests specifically mention the wine tasting when booking their reservation. Woodfire Grill is located at 1782 Cheshire Bridge Road and serves dinner Tuesday through Saturday. For more information, visit www.woodfiregrill.com
